After calling over twenty times,
leaving many messages
and having many conversations
the director finally says, “I’ve got the job for you”
and then each semester, for over a decade,
after I leave many messages
have many conversations
and thank my boss for returning my calls,
he thanks me for keeping in touch
when he hires me once again.
